The Pi coin price today is the live figure in the ticker above. As a dated snapshot, CoinGecko showed PI at about $0.083 on 7 October 2026, with a market cap near $0.93 billion and roughly $7.5 million of 24-hour trading volume. That puts Pi about 97% below its all-time high of $2.99 and only a few cents above its all-time low of about $0.0706, set on 14 July 2026. The number in this paragraph is old by the time you read it. The chart below is not.

Below the chart you will find what each metric means, why the big supply debate changes the market cap, why exchanges quote different prices, and how to avoid being misled by the numbers.

Reading the chart: start with the longest range you can select and look for the shape, not the last candle. You should see a spike in early 2025, a collapse through spring, and then a slow, grinding decline with brief bounces. Zoom into short ranges only to check what happened around a specific news date. A 5% move on a coin with this little volume tells you almost nothing.

From $2.99 to a few cents: the story of the chart

Pi’s open network launched on 20 February 2025, and the first trading price was about $0.70. Within six days the price hit $2.99 (26 February). That is the peak that anchors every “Pi is down 97%” headline. A month later, on 26 March 2025, the price was about $0.81, down roughly 73% from the high, according to CryptoSlate’s reporting at the time.

Why did it spike and fall so fast? On launch week, almost nothing was actually available to sell. Most mined balances were locked, unmigrated or waiting on KYC, so the tradable float was tiny and a small amount of buying moved the price a long way. As locks released and more holders could sell, the float grew and the price came down toward where demand actually sat.

By October 2025 the price was around $0.21 to $0.25. CoinGecko’s daily series puts its highest daily point of the past twelve months at about $0.27 on 28 November 2025. Reports differ on the intraday peak around Kraken’s listing on 13 March 2026 (one source says $0.25, another $0.29), so we would not lean on either. By May 2026, around the time OKX announced US access, the price was about $0.15. By June it was near $0.13, by early August it was near $0.08, and on 14 July it touched the low.

The key numbers, and what each one is hiding

The panel below pulls live numbers from CoinGecko. Before looking at it, here is how to read each line. Price is the last traded price across the exchanges CoinGecko tracks. Market cap is price times circulating supply. Volume is the dollar value traded in the last 24 hours. Rank is where the market cap puts Pi on that site’s list.

On 7 October 2026, the figures read roughly like this: price $0.083, market cap $0.93 billion, 24-hour volume $7.5 million, rank #81 on CoinGecko. CoinMarketCap showed #67 the same day. Both are correct on their own terms, which tells you that rank is a function of methodology as much as of money.

The change figures matter more than the rank. CoinGecko showed about minus 6% over 24 hours, minus 10% over seven days and minus 12% over 30 days on that morning. Over twelve months the price was down by roughly two-thirds. A coin that falls steadily for most of a year is behaving differently from one that crashes on news and recovers.

Volume to market cap

Daily volume of $7.5 million against a market cap of $0.93 billion is under 1%. That means the market cap is mostly a notional figure. It describes what all coins would be worth at the last trade price, not what could be sold at that price.

Market cap, FDV and the supply argument

Market cap uses circulating supply, and circulating supply is the weak link in Pi’s data. CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap agree on about 11.24 billion PI circulating as of 7 October 2026, but they disagree on total supply: CoinGecko shows about 17.3 billion, CoinMarketCap shows 100 billion. The maximum supply is 100 billion in both cases.

That disagreement produces wildly different fully diluted valuations (FDV, which is price times total or maximum supply). CoinMarketCap showed $8.33 billion at $0.0834, because it multiplies by 100 billion. CoinGecko’s FDV works out to about $1.43 billion because it uses the 17.3 billion total. Same coin, same day, a nearly six-fold gap in “fully diluted” value.

Which to trust? Neither number can be independently checked. Pi publishes no official unlock schedule on the pages we reviewed, and the amount locked, burned or held in core-team wallets is tracked by analytics firms and not by Pi. Critics argue that this opacity is a reason some large exchanges stay away. Third-party trackers have reported about 190 million PI unlocking in December 2025, 134 million in January 2026 and roughly 231 to 240 million around April 2026. Treat those as estimates.

A simple example shows why this matters for price. Suppose the market cap stayed at $0.93 billion but circulating supply rose from 11.24 billion to 13.6 billion over a year (roughly 200 million per month, in line with the tracker estimates). The price would be about $0.068, with no bad news at all. Unlocks do not guarantee selling, but they raise the amount that can be sold. For a longer look at how this arithmetic plays out in future scenarios, see the Pi coin price prediction page.

Thin volume and why prices differ between exchanges

PI has no single price. Each exchange runs its own order book, and whichever sells or buys on that book sets the local price. Aggregators average across venues, usually weighted by volume. When the biggest venue has only a few million dollars of daily volume, the “price” is more fragile than it looks.

On 7 October 2026, CoinGecko’s ticker data showed OKX’s PI/USDT market at about $3.1 million of 24-hour volume, then CoinUp.io at $1.5 million, Gate at $1.2 million, CoinW at about $0.8 million and Bitget at $0.6 million. Kraken’s PI/USD market had about $47,000 and PI/EUR about $13,000. All trust scores were blank. The table below pulls this live.

How to read it: sort by volume, ignore any venue with negligible volume, and compare the top few. If a small venue shows a price far above or below the rest, assume you cannot trade size at that price. Pairs also differ: PI/USDT, PI/USD, PI/EUR and PI/TRY are all slightly different markets, and stablecoins themselves can wobble. For where each venue stands on listings and country access, the exchange comparison and the listing tracker go deeper.

What moves the Pi price

Supply events come first. Unlocks, migrations and batches of newly transferable coins increase what can be sold, and a thin market reacts. Pi’s 17 September 2026 update, which cleared 417,000 accounts flagged as possible duplicates, is the sort of event that can matter later, since more cleared accounts means more coins that may eventually move. Details are in the mainnet and KYC timeline.

Listings and access news come second. Kraken’s listing on 13 March 2026 pushed the price up in a single day by about 30% according to one report, and the gain did not hold. Rumors of a Binance or Coinbase listing do the same, and then fade; neither has listed PI as of 7 October 2026. The wider crypto market is third: small tokens often fall harder than Bitcoin when risk appetite drops. Sentiment is last and hardest to measure. After a year of decline, bounces tend to get sold.

Real utility is the slow variable that matters most. If apps in the Pi ecosystem create steady demand for PI, price support does not depend on headlines. So far, the honest answer is that usage is early and hard to measure. Pi’s own figures on apps and users are self-reported, and you can see the broader context in the legitimacy assessment.

How to check the price without being fooled

Use more than one source. CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap are the two most-used aggregators, and the exchange you actually plan to use is the third. Compare them. If three sources agree within a percent or two, the price is real enough. If one is wildly off, it is probably a thin venue or a stale quote.

Beware of quotes labeled IOU. An IOU is a placeholder claim traded before real tokens could move, and it is not the same thing as spot PI. Some venues still show “Pi IOU” markets or labels, and their prices can diverge, with additional counterparty risk. The Pi IOU guide explains what to check before you trade one.

Also beware of the “$314,159” figure. It is a community-proposed “global consensus value” that circulates in videos and social posts. It is not a market price. We could not find it on Pi’s FAQ, and the arithmetic should end the conversation: at $314,159 per coin, the 11.24 billion circulating PI would be worth about $3.5 quadrillion. For perspective, that is not a number any market can produce. The page you want for real prices is this one.

Check the date before you trust any Pi number

Pi pages on the internet are full of old prices. If a page does not show a date and a source, treat the number as decoration.

If you hold Pi in a currency other than dollars, remember that a local price is the dollar price times an exchange rate, minus spreads and fees. The PI to USD conversion page works through that with examples. And if you are asking where the price might go next, read the price prediction scenarios before you read anyone else’s, because they start from the numbers on this page and show what would have to be true for each outcome. If you are comparing Pi with the largest coin, the Pi vs Bitcoin comparison lays out the structural differences.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pi coin price today?
The live figure is in the ticker and chart above. As a dated snapshot, CoinGecko showed about $0.083 per PI on 7 October 2026, with a market cap near $0.93 billion and a 24-hour volume of roughly $7.5 million. Prices move continuously, so treat any number in text as a snapshot.
What is Pi coin's all-time high and low?
CoinGecko lists the all-time high at $2.99 on 26 February 2025 and the all-time low at about $0.0706 on 14 July 2026. CoinMarketCap shows slightly different figures ($2.98 and $0.0707) because each site records prices from its own set of exchanges.
Why is Pi coin price different on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko?
Each aggregator weights exchanges differently, filters venues by its own rules and counts supply differently. On 7 October 2026 they agreed on circulating supply (about 11.24 billion) but showed different rank (#81 vs #67) and very different fully diluted valuations. Neither is the price you will get when you trade.
What is Pi coin's market cap and supply?
On 7 October 2026 CoinGecko listed a market cap of about $0.93 billion on roughly 11.24 billion circulating PI, against a 100 billion maximum supply. The circulating figure is not independently verifiable, so the market cap is only as reliable as that count.
Is the $314,159 Pi price real?
No. It is a community-proposed figure sometimes called the global consensus value, not a market price. We did not find it on Pi's official FAQ, and at that price a single PI would imply a market cap in the quadrillions of dollars. Actual trading prices are shown on exchanges and in the live widgets.
Is the Pi IOU price the same as the PI price?
Not necessarily. An IOU is a placeholder claim traded before real tokens could move, and it can carry its own price and counterparty risk. See the Pi IOU guide before you compare quotes labeled IOU with spot PI.
Why did Pi coin drop so much after its peak?
Several forces overlapped: an early spike with very little real supply on the market, steady unlocks of locked coins, thin demand, listing hopes that did not materialize and a weak market for small tokens. No single event explains it, and some of the supply data is third-party estimates rather than official.
